Flyers 15U team making a difference

The PF Flyers-Edwards 15U team members have added community service to their list of accomplishments.

In December, the Flyers collected clothing and cold weather items in suitcases for the homeless. The items collected were donated to the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky in Covington. This facility serves the homeless of Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati. The representatives working indicated they were low on these items, so the donation was at a critical time.

The Flyers packed six suitcases filled with cold weather clothing for the homeless.

On January 14, six Flyers players — along with parents and siblings — volunteered at Matthew 25 Ministries.

The volunteers sorted through paints that had been donated for a great cause. This was a messy job that most volunteer groups are not interested in, but these Flyers weren’t afraid of getting their hands dirty. The group sorted through more than 300 cans of paint to prepare them to be mixed and colored so they could be sent to impoverished areas where Matthew 25 Ministries builds and repairs housing for the homeless.

These young men are not only great baseball players, but they are great citizens as well.
