Ryan Mahle
Board Member, 11U Team Manager & Assistant Coach, 8U Head Coach
Ryan fell in love with baseball when he was three years old. Kindled by a 1990 Cincinnati Reds World Series championship, the grandeur of Riverfront Stadium from the “top six” with his dad, and countless games of tennis ball-baseball in the backyard with his older brother, this love soon became a passion.
Ryan played high school baseball for Archbishop Alter High School in Kettering, Ohio, earning All Greater Catholic League honors at shortstop in 2004 before going on to play at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
In 2013, Ryan returned to Alter High School where he served on the baseball coaching staff for the next eight seasons, both as a varsity assistant coach and junior varsity head coach.
As his own boys grew older, Ryan took up the new challenge of developing younger players, coaching both a 9U and 12U team in Milford.
Ryan coaches a brand of high-energy, smart baseball. He’s gifted in building culture.
Ryan’s coaching philosophy can be summarized as follows: When baseball is played and understood in the right way, it’s an extraordinary expression of a young man’s best inner energies and of his ability to overcome challenges, to set for himself goals to be reached through sacrifice, generosity and determination in facing the difficulties of competition.
Professionally, Ryan is a licensed civil engineer and serves as a research engineer in the University of Cincinnati’s Center for Smart, Sustainable, and Resilient Infrastructure.
He holds a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from UC, a master’s degree in theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville, and is pursuing his PhD in civil engineering from UC.
Ryan lives in Milford with his wife, Rachel, and their seven children: Andrew, Isaac, Anna, Mary Grace, Miriam, Abigail, & John.
