PF Flyers organization adds another top ranked team

The PF Flyers Baseball Club is adding another top team to the lineup.

The Midland Wahoos 12U team, coached by Chad Bitler, will join the Flyers in 2024. The Wahoos have consistently been ranked as one of the top teams in the state of Ohio and have been ranked nationally since 10U.

The team is currently ranked No. 6 in Ohio and No. 57 nationally, according to Travel Baseball Rankings. The Wahoos finished 2022 as the No. 4 ranked team in Ohio. The team is 21 games over .500 the last two seasons and has won five tournaments and reached the finals in seven.

The Wahoos are joining the Ohio Nationals 12U team in coming to the Flyers for 2024.

The Nationals will compete as the PF Flyers 13U National, coached by Jason Pittser.

The Wahoos will compete as the PF Flyers 13U American, coached by Bitler.

“As an organization, we did not intend to add more than one team per age group,” PF Flyers Board President Brandon Edwards said. “However, after lengthy conversations with both coaches, it was apparent this is a unique situation, and our organization needed to make an exception to our one-team-per-age-group rule. The Midland Wahoos are an established and proven team with an experienced coaching staff, and a tremendous group of players and parents. Just like the Nationals, the Wahoos represent exactly what we want as an organization: extremely committed coaches, players and parents that truly understand our culture and the value of our resources and infrastructure.

“It is humbling to have coaches like Chad Bitler reach out numerous times lobbying on behalf of his players and parents to have the opportunity to be a part of what we’ve built and are continuing to build for our teams and families here at the PF Flyers Baseball Club.”

The move means the Flyers will have four teams ranked in the top 20 in the state, with three ranked in the top six.

It also will allow the Wahoos to continue to develop their players and take full advantage of everything the Flyers organization offers.

"When looking for an organization for the 2024 season, finding a culture and philosophy that supported that of our coaches, parents and players was a huge challenge for us,” Bitler said. “Brandon and the rest of the Board of the PF Flyers are taking the right approach to youth baseball by putting the development and character of the players at the pinnacle of their guiding principles. We have had great success at a competitive level over the past several years and we are thrilled to continue that success, while preparing our boys to be not only good baseball players but excellent leaders under the PF Flyers umbrella."

The Wahoos are also coached by Tom Gruber, Drew Walters and Zach Soult.
