Chris White grew up in southern Ohio and graduated from Adena High School in Frankfort. He played summer ball with the Chillicothe Generals in central/southern Ohio CABA and from there he went on to play four years at Kent State University from 1998-2002.
While at Kent State, the Golden Flashes won one Mid-American Conference regular season championship (2000), two MAC tournament championships (2001, 2002) and appeared in two NCAA Regional tournaments (2001 and 2002). In Chris’ junior year at Kent State, he was drafted in the 20th round of the 2002 MLB draft by the Cleveland Indians. He played two years with the Single-A Mahoning Valley Scrappers before being traded to the Kansas City Royals in fall of 2003.
After his playing career ended, he was reenergized to get involved starting with his two twin boys first t-ball season. He realized his real passion is working with kids to develop strong fundamental skills on the athletic side of the game but, even more importantly, taking the time to focus on the mental side of sports and the key life lessons that can be learned within the game. Coaching kids through good and bad moments with positive reinforcement translates directly to better play, a more enjoyable experience and a long-term love of the game. Coming into each practice/game with an excitement to be there, confident energy and respect for all of those around you is crucial and starts from the top down.
Since starting coaching in 2016, he has been a head coach for the past seven years. For the three seasons, he was the director of Mariemont Little League. Starting in the fall of 2023, he will begin coaching with the PF Flyers.
Outside of baseball, Chris and his wife, Christy, own their own business, Whirlybird Granola. They live in Terrace Park with their two boys, Nolan and Garrett, and daughter Gemma.
