Casey Brashear started playing baseball at the age of 5.
He remembers each day waiting patiently at the window for his dad to get home from work to play catch with him. This is where his love of the game started, and it has not wavered since.
Casey played select baseball with the Midland organization from ages 10 through 16. He then played with, and later coached, the 17U American Legion Post 72 team, where he was inducted as a member of its Hall of Fame in 2006. Casey was a three-year varsity letterman at Glen Este High School where he earned First Team All-League his Junior and Senior years.
Following his high school career, Casey continued onto Thomas More College where he played baseball his freshman year and majored in Criminal Justice.
Casey took a hiatus from baseball for a few years while he started his career in law enforcement. While in law enforcement, his chief of police (knowing his background of being a catcher and coach) asked him to come to one of his select team’s practices to train the catchers. Casey thought this would be a couple practice endeavor, however, it reignited his passion for the game and coaching. This marked the beginning of a five-year stretch coaching a National level team in the Midland organization.
Once Casey’s son, Tate, began playing baseball, Casey dedicated all his efforts into coaching his team.
As a PF Flyers head coach, Casey looks forward to developing the talent within each player along with teaching life skills, confidence, respect for the game and themselves, how to win and lose well and how to work hard to be successful young men.
Casey lives in the Eastgate with his wife, Lindsey, and their two children: Tate and Paisley. Outside of baseball, Casey enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and is a diehard fan of The Ohio State football team.
