Andy Shaffer

9U Head Coach

Andrew (Andy) Shaffer started playing baseball at 5 years old and fell in love with the sport from the start. He played baseball his whole life until he suffered a severe back injury while pitching. This injury prevented him from playing any further.

Even though he couldn’t play anymore, his love and passion for the game never diminished.

He obtained his associate’s degree from Cincinnati State in Information Technology, Computer Networking & Engineering. He worked 15 years in the IT field at various capacities with local hospitals, banks and universities. After he and his wife had their second child in April of 2020, Andy became a temporary stay-at-home father.

When Andy’s oldest son, Caleb, expressed his interest in baseball and wanted to join a team, Andy’s became involved in the game again. He was thrilled to share all things baseball with his son to help him learn, grow and develop as a baseball player.  Andy was the assistant coach for his son’s Knothole team in 2022. After Caleb joined the PF Flyers 9U team, Andy was given the opportunity to become the head coach of the 9U team. He hopes to continue coaching and be involved in the development and growth of youth baseball.

Although Andy is just starting out in his baseball coaching career, he is committed to helping his baseball players develop the skills and confidence needed both on and off the field.

Andy lives in Loveland with his wife, Jackie, and two sons, Caleb and Jordan, his Bernese Mountain dog named Rosie (after Rosie Red, the Cincinnati Reds mascot) and cat, Nimi.
